A delegation of female students from the College of Engineering at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University visited the University of Tokyo in Japan as part of a package of cultural and educational programs aimed at activating the cultural student exchange program and enhancing knowledge exchange between the two universities. The visit, which lasted approximately 11 days, included attendance at seminars and workshops on green hydrogen concepts and projects, practical training tasks on solar cells and solar energy, the PEM electrolysis system for hydrogen production, and exposure to solar panel manufacturing processes. The visit also included discussions on potential areas of cooperation between the two universities in the field of renewable energy. The program featured field visits to major landmarks in Tokyo, as well as tours of university centers and facilities, including the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Center for Future Science and Technology, the Misk Laboratory for Green Energy, the College of Engineering Research Center, the Institute of Industrial Science, and the Integrated Research Center for Sustainable Energy and Materials. Students also visited research laboratories related to electronics and renewable energy, as well as control system laboratories used in solar power generation. Previously, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, hosted a delegation of female students from the University of Tokyo under the same program, reflecting the Deanship’s commitment to strengthening high-quality partnerships with local, regional, and international universities. In the same context, the Deanship of Student Affairs activated the cultural student exchange program in three countries—Oman, South Korea, and China—with the participation of 43 students. The program aims to enhance students’ communication skills, foster understanding, empathy, and respect for different cultures, develop skills, and refine personal and professional competencies for future careers through a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational activities, including visits to universities such as Sun Yat-sen University in China and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea. This initiative aligns with the Deanship of Student Affairs’ contribution to achieving the Strategic Objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University 2025 by graduating competitive competencies, leading knowledge and societal impact, strengthening international presence, and building bridges of communication with local and global communities.
