The National Observatory for Women at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University strengthened its roles in supporting Saudi women’s participation in development through more than 41 qualitative projects and participations during the previous academic year. The projects and participations addressed multiple aspects aimed at creating a positive impact on women’s role in the development journey and measuring its direct effect on society. These included in-depth studies and research on the reality of women’s roles for the benefit of decision-makers, institutions, and civil society organizations, as well as diverse participation in workshops, initiatives, seminars, and awareness campaigns to enhance Saudi women’s efficiency and highlight their contributions, achievements, and civilizational role. The Observatory completed several projects that contributed to a qualitative leap in women’s advancement. Among them is the project “The Role of Saudi Women in Society and in Various Business Sectors and Government Sectors,” for the Council of Family Affairs, which aims to prepare an integrated profile on the role of Saudi women in society and government sectors during the year 1445 AH. Another project is “Pioneering Women in Charitable Work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” which aims to document women’s experiences and contributions in the early beginnings of charitable work in the Kingdom for Al-Nahda Society during 1444–1445 AH, and is considered a first-of-its-kind documentation book. During the academic year 1445 AH, the Observatory participated in a package of workshops, seminars, and discussion sessions focused on women’s affairs, presenting several issues including mental health, women’s empowerment in the workplace, and contemporary family challenges. It is noted that the Observatory serves as a supportive reference for decision-makers, institutions, and civil society organizations by building and measuring indicators of women’s role in development and providing data and studies that support strengthening women’s participation in development. The Observatory includes a group of experts, specialists, and consultants in research, analysis, and measurement across all development-related fields. The Observatory team is working on several ongoing projects, including “A Journey of Leadership and Giving in Empowering Saudi Women,” which aims to document women’s experiences and contributions in the early stages of empowerment and the period before it in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom by reviewing and analyzing qualitative, high-impact contributions. This is carried out for the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Foundation for Human Development during 1445–1446 AH. This comes within the National Observatory for Women’s efforts to contribute to Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic objectives by supporting women’s participation in development and highlighting their civilizational role. The Observatory is also keen to participate in local and international forums and events, strengthen relationships with relevant entities, and establish partnerships with various active and influential stakeholders in the women’s agenda.
