Brief about Special Education
​​​​The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques approved on the project submitted by the University to restructure the College of Education to be more specialized in educational and psychological sciences. In the first semester of the year 1430-1431 AH the College has comprised six departments, including the Department of Special Education.
The Special Education Program at the College of Education at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is designed to be of an applied nature. It consists of four components:
The general cultural courses, chosen to provide students with the knowledge required for teaching subjects to pupils.
The joint courses of the specialization track, chosen to provide students with the knowledge required to provide special educationservices to help pupils and adults to the integral development in the different aspects of growth.
A set of specialized courses for each track.
Field training in level eight to train students in public schools, special education centers, shelters, and daycare centers.

- Degree awarded at the end of the program: Bachelor
- Total number of credit hours required to complete the program: 133 hours
- Qualifications of the graduate of special education program:
1. To apply the teachings of Islam in dealing with people with special needs.
2. Mastery of specialized knowledge in the field of special education.
3. Awareness of citizen's rights.
4. Ability to identify individual differences between people with special needs.
5. Having self-confidence and emotional balance, and the ability to solve problems and emergencies. 
6. Ability to identify the educational needs of people with disabilities. 
7. Showing the desire to work collaboratively with colleagues at work and with the school administration.
8. Owning positive trends toward their major and minor specialization.
9. Ability to assist people with special needs according to their abilities, readiness, and stages of development.
10. Having faith in the principle of Education for All (EFA) and the ability to provide educational services depending on the different methods of integration.
11. Ability to communicate with special needsand with their families.
12. Using the appropriate teaching methods for people with special needs.
13. Mastering the skill of communication with civil society institutions related to the field of special education.
14. Effective participation in activities and events that concern the field of special education.
15. Having the skill to deal with behavioral problems using behavioral modification techniques.
16. Ability to implement standards, diagnostic tools, and evaluation in the field of special education.
17. Employment of modern educational strategies suitable for people with special needs.
18. Using available, technical means in simplifying information for people with special needs.
19. Employment of psychological, educational and learning principles and theories in the field of special education
20. Showing desire for autonomous continuing professional development in the field of special education
