The Teaching and Learning Excellence Program at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University supports faculty development by providing academic guidance and resources that empower faculty members to enhance their teaching practices and advance student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support research in teaching and learning.
  • Assess teaching and learning practices at the University and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Develop knowledge resources, including e-communication tools and knowledge databases, to support teaching and learning.
  • Foster innovation and creativity in higher education through awareness initiatives, logistical support, and an environment conducive to innovation.
  • Provide ongoing academic and practical support to faculty members and promote effective communication to advance teaching and learning.


Initiatives

Advance HE Fellowship

The Advance HE Fellowship provides international recognition of a commitment to professional practice in teaching and learning in higher education. It recognizes teaching and learning practices that align with the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is a member of Advance HE, enabling faculty members to pursue professional fellowships in teaching and learning. Through this initiative, the Center offers training programs and consultations that help faculty members enhance their teaching practices and align them with UK professional standards for higher education.

In previous years, the Center has delivered more than 155 training programs and 120 teaching consultations, benefiting more than 2,500 faculty members. These efforts have resulted in 209 faculty members at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University earning Advance HE fellowships, contributing to enhanced teaching practices and faculty competence across the University.

Coaching

Coaching is a professional process that helps individuals achieve their goals, develop their skills, and unlock their potential. A coach serves as a facilitator and guide, using thought-provoking questions to help individuals broaden their perspectives, make informed decisions, and achieve positive change in their personal or professional lives.

Coaching sessions typically consist of a series of regular meetings between the coach and the individual receiving coaching. These sessions focus on discussing challenges, setting goals, and exploring solutions. Rather than providing direct advice, coaching emphasizes active listening and thought-provoking questions that promote self-awareness and personal growth.

Coaching is distinct from psychotherapy and consulting. It focuses on the present and future, helping individuals move from where they are now toward their desired goals.
