In line with the Council of Universities Affairs' decision encouraging universities to administer annual standardized tests for academic programs without national professional examinations, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University uses standardized tests to enhance the quality of education and strengthen academic learning outcomes. The tests provide a direct measure of program learning outcomes, help ensure that graduates' competencies meet labor market needs, and provide valuable insights into areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. The results also inform comprehensive development plans at the program and course levels and support the University's pursuit of local and international academic accreditation.

 

Standardized tests have been administered at the University since 1443 AH and serve to:

  • Directly measure the achievement of learning outcomes in academic programs.
  • Align graduates' competencies with labor market requirements.
  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement and inform development plans at the program and course levels.
  • Support the attainment of local and international academic accreditation.

Purpose of the Tests

To ensure the quality of academic program learning outcomes and inform continuous improvement and development plans.

Targeted Learning Outcomes

  • Program-Specific Learning Outcomes: Assess the approved discipline-specific learning outcomes of each academic program.
  • General Learning Outcomes: Assess essential skills, including information literacy, analytical thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, and general knowledge

Target Programs and Students

Target Programs:
All specialized academic programs offered by the University's colleges, except programs that are subject to professional licensure examinations.

Target Students:

  1. Undergraduate students at Level 2.
  2. Undergraduate students at Level 6.
  3. Undergraduate students at the final level who are expected to graduate.
  4. Diploma students at the final level of the Applied College.

 

Test Administration

Standardized tests are administered electronically through the University's designated system, with students taking the tests in person.

Incentives and Recognition

  • Certificates of completion for students who attend the test, and certificates of excellence for outstanding performers.
  • Recognition of outstanding students at the University's annual graduation ceremony.
  • Volunteer hours may be awarded to participating students, subject to departmental approval.
  • Additional supporting marks may be awarded to participating students, subject to departmental regulations.
