Researches

The Research Unit at the College of Languages, formerly known as the Research Center, was established pursuant to a decision issued by Her Excellency the University President on Monday, 11/4/1438 AH, corresponding to January 9, 2017. The Unit oversees research-related activities at the College. It annually documents the scholarly output of faculty members and monitors the progress of projects funded by the Deanship of Scientific Research and led by College faculty members. The Unit serves as a liaison between the College’s researchers and the relevant University departments. A Research Committee is formed annually to review research topics submitted to the Unit and submit recommendations to the relevant University departments. The Unit also promotes a culture of research and enhances the research skills of faculty members and students through an annual program of research activities. In addition, it provides a plagiarism-check service for research submitted by the College’s faculty members

Responsibilities

•Develop and implement an annual plan for research activities.

•Coordinate with the Deanship of Scientific Research regarding applications and procedures related to funded research projects, including receiving project applications, extension requests, researcher authorization, adding researchers, project completion, and withdrawal from research projects.

•Prepare the College's annual report on research activities and achievements.

•Provide plagiarism-check services for research submitted by College faculty members.

•Document the scholarly output of College faculty members for each academic year.

•Follow up on research-related requests received by the College from the University’s departments and take the necessary action.

Establishment

The journal is a peer-reviewed scholarly publication established pursuant to Scientific Council Resolution No. 3580, dated 19/2/1439 AH. Published in both print and electronic formats, it is issued twice a year by the College of Languages at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. The journal Critical Studies in Languages and Literature publishes original research and scholarly studies in linguistics, translation, and literature. It welcomes original contributions in English and French that fall within its scope and disciplinary focus. It prioritizes research addressing national and regional priorities and emerging developments in these fields. The journal is supported by an Advisory Board and Editorial Board comprising specialists with academic expertise and professional experience from institutions in Saudi Arabia and abroad.

To achieve excellence in scholarly publishing in the fields of languages, literature, and translation and to position the journal among leading international scholarly journals.

Mission

To advance the quality of scholarly publishing by adhering to international standards and continuously enhancing the journal’s publishing and distribution practices. The journal seeks to strengthen the regional and international reputation and standing of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University while contributing to the needs of society and supporting development initiatives aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

•Submissions must include an Arabic abstract and references formatted in accordance with the journal’s guidelines.

•Submitted works must be original and demonstrate appropriate scholarly quality.

•Submissions must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

•All submissions are subject to specialized academic peer review.

•Submissions must address topics within translation, literature, linguistics, or related fields.

•Authors must adhere to established scholarly research principles and the journal’s citation and documentation standards throughout the research process.

•Submissions must comply with Islamic Sharia principles, applicable laws and regulations, and the Kingdom’s policies, directions, plans, and initiatives.

•Submissions must not promote discord or division, undermine national security or public order, adversely affect the Kingdom’s international relations, or serve foreign interests that conflict with national interests.

•Submissions must respect human dignity and rights and must not contain content that incites prejudice or discord, damages reputations, or constitutes personal offense or defamation.
