​​About the Vice Deanship

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs at the College of Languages is responsible for overseeing the educational process and developing educational programs to improve learning outcomes and meet the requirements of the job market in the field of foreign languages. This is done by improving performance efficiency at the college and creating a supportive educational environment for students and faculty. The vice deanship aims to develop study plans and programs to achieve competitive learning outcomes, and implement the best and latest teaching and learning strategies to improve targeted educational outcomes. It also seeks to provide students with the necessary skills in the fields of languages, literature, and translation by creating educational and training environment that ensures high competence, a spirit of citizenship, professional ethics, leadership, and responsibility.​

Departments and Units 

Department of Educational Affairs 

Tasks:
  • ​Overseeing registration, scheduling, and submitting reports.
  • Supervising the progress of examinations and submitting related reports.
  • Developing an academic advising plan in coordination with the academic departments and monitoring its implementation.
  • Activating the work of educational process committees (e.g., academic probation, course equivalency).
  • Assisting students in obtaining suitable training opportunities to link theoretical course content with practical learning environments, and thereby enhancing their competencies.

Laboratory and Learning Resources Management 

Tasks:
  • ​Supervising the college's laboratories, conducting continuous inventory of the laboratories and their contents, evaluating the condition of the equipment, and coordinating with the university's laboratory unit to provide periodic maintenance.
  • Preparing schedules and organizing both internal and external reservations for the laboratories and equipment.
  • Conducting the necessary training courses for the use of laboratories and equipment.
  • Supervising the college library, providing and updating references according to the college's needs, and coordinating with the central library.
  • Collecting and reporting statistics on library users and services to the central library.
  • Preparing a quarterly report on the laboratories, educational technologies used, and training courses conducted during the semester, as well as measuring their impact on development.


Quality Assurance of Education and Learning

Tasks:
  • Implementing the requirements of academic accreditation standards in all college programs and overseeing the delivery of quality requirements.
  • Continuous evaluation of curricula and consulting with experts and specialists from the job market to align educational programs with the needs of the job market.
  • Following up on the process of evaluating learning outcomes, identifying areas for development, and supporting members in the evaluation process in coordination with the departments.
  • Identifying the best and latest educational practices and developing plans to oversee their implementation in coordination with the academic departments and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
  • Supervising training courses related to the transfer of expertise in the field of quality and accreditation.
  • Overseeing the work of quality committees in educational programs and collecting minutes and reports to carry out the necessary development processes.

E-learning Unit

Tasks:
  • ​Following up on the inventory of electronic programs and courses within the college.
  • Supporting course coordinators in case of technical problems in managing e-learning.
  • Communicating with academic departments to inventory unresolved technical problems and submit a report to the relevant authorities at the university.
  • Submiting periodic reports on the development of courses and the activation of e-learning management.

Cooperative Training Unit

Tasks:
  • Studying the training needs of the various specializations in the college.
  • Following up on the application of the systems, regulations, and procedures related to cooperative training.
  • Preparing the training plan and follow up on its implementation in terms of nominating the academic supervisors in each training program, distributing the students to the supervisors, and other matters related to cooperative training.
  • Determining the criteria for selecting appropriate training institutions and the requirements that must be available in the training.
  • Identifying appropriate training institutions to train the students in accordance with the academic specializations and the approved criteria.
  • Following up on the preparation for the introductory meeting program for field training with the coordinators (administrators) and field training supervisors
  • Continuous supervision and follow-up with the coordinators (administrators) of field training in the academic departments affiliated with the college.
  • Visiting the directors of the field training units in the colleges to the training institutions to ensure the safety of the work progress and the commitment of the training institutions to what the student is being trained on, which is consistent with her academic specialization.
  • Preparing a comprehensive report on the periodic reports (for the Vice Rectorate for Educational Affairs according to the approved template).
  • Working on a joint cooperation agreement between the university and training institutions​ with competence in the labor market and activate the training ending with employment.

Educational Process Unit

Tasks:
  • Inventorying the share schedules, individual member schedules, and teaching load cards in the educational departments and raise them to the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs.
  • Inventorying the excess hours for faculty members and raise them to the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs.
  • Inventorying the entitlements of the summer semester for faculty members and raise them to the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs.
  • Ensuring the regular progress of the educational process through field tours (during the academic semester).
  • Ensuring the readiness of the college and its preparation before the beginning of each academic semester and raise them to the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs.
  • Conducting field tours during the academic semester.
