Students from the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University achieved first place at the Human Rights Hackathon “HAQ THON”, organized by the Human Rights Commission in collaboration with the Prince Talal Foundation, with the participation of more than 100 competing teams from various regions of the Kingdom. The event was held at the commission’s headquarters in Riyadh. The university students’ win came as part of team “Osoul” in the Rights Track, for their innovative project “Community Awareness Platform". The project is an integrated system that combines a digital platform, mobile centres, and ambassadors who provide support to individuals in different regions, with the aim of raising awareness of human rights and facilitating access to rights-related information for various segments of society. The Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, Dr. Manal Al-Ohali, stated that the team’s achievement reflects the students’ commitment to developing innovative solutions that meet community needs and contribute to achieving the college’s goals in advancing academic and research activities in service of society, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The Human Rights Hackathon “HAQ THON” held from December 10 to 13, 2025, featured three main tracks: the Knowledge Track, the Rights Track, and the Standards Track. The event brought together developers, creatives, and interested participants to develop innovative technological solutions aimed at promoting human rights awareness and leveraging modern technologies to support digital transformation in human rights services. This participation comes as part of the efforts of the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of its 2025 Strategic Plan, which aims to build bridges of communication with the local and global community, support the research and innovation ecosystem, enhance knowledge and skills enrichment, and contribute to building the society of the future.
