The College of Education and Human Development at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University participated in a community event on Wednesday, October 30, 2023, at the Obour Center for Human Development. The event was organized by the Community Service Committee of the Psychology Program, under the title 'Developing Social and Personal Skills for Children with Special Needs.'
During the field visit, students from the Psychology Program conducted a variety of physical activities, skill games, and expressive arts with a group of children with special needs, including those with Down syndrome and children on the autism spectrum. The activities aimed at enhancing personal skills, fostering social communication, and developing expressive abilities, and were presented across several educational stations and educational games. The children actively engaged in the diverse activities through physical, skill-based, and expressive performances.
Teachers and specialists from the center also participated by providing educational guidance during the event, enriching the educational environment. The visit concluded with the distribution of a collection of commemorative gifts to the children with special needs.
Additionally, the center offered an educational lecture to the students on personal behavior modification skills as part of the event program.
These visits and social initiatives are part of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s efforts to strengthen community relationships, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and mutual support within Saudi society.
