The College of Education and Human Development inaugurates the Behavioral Change Lab (BCL) on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The lab aims to align with national aspirations and Vision 2030 to achieve a higher quality of life and offers a variety of services. The lab seeks to promote positive change through the 'NUDGE' methodology, an innovative approach in behavioral change that helps replace undesirable behaviors with more beneficial ones. It encourages guiding individuals and organizations toward making better choices to improve their lives and benefit their communities.
Additionally, the lab aims to provide counseling and preventive services in the fields of psychology and special education. It offers advisory services to individuals seeking consultations for specific psychological issues, or family-related problems, such as concerns with parents or children. Female students can also benefit from these services to address personal issues or academic behavioral challenges. The consultations cover areas such as developmental disorders in children and adolescents, intellectual disabilities at all levels, learning difficulties, and behavioral disorders.
The lab provides accredited psychological assessments for cognitive abilities and personality traits, using standardized measures administered by licensed professionals in psychological testing, certified by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
The inauguration of the lab is part of the College of Education and Human Development’s contribution to achieving the objectives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, specifically the 'Vibrant Society' pillar. Vision 2030 outlines six main goals, including various sub-goals that work to foster a harmonious and integrated Saudi society. This vision emphasizes individual self-alignment, independence, creativity, and the development of a clear philosophy of life. Achieving these goals enhances the importance of mental health for both individuals and the community, aligning with the college’s objectives to develop human potential and with Princess Nourah University’s strategic plan to cultivate initiative, lead change, and work with excellence in shaping the future.
