About the Department

The Department of Biology was established as one of the departments of the College of Science at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in the year 1428H. It was initially one of the basic science departments in the College of Education, which was founded in 1390H. The department has developed a new academic plan aimed at preparing and qualifying scientific personnel with specialized professional skills to meet the demands of the job market in the fields of biological sciences. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology after completing the academic requirements of 132 credit units.
Each year, the department admits about 200 new students. Currently, the department has approximately 1524 students, overseen by an elite team of about 100 faculty and teaching members in various specialized and theoretical fields of biology. The department also includes several laboratory technicians. There are many laboratories equipped with the latest scientific equipment.
