The College of Computer and Information Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in collaboration with IBM, has concluded the global IBM SkillsBuild initiative. The initiative aimed to train female students in fields such as technology, artificial intelligence, and digital skills at the university's college premises.
The IBM SkillsBuild initiative is a practical educational program designed to empower students to acquire advanced skills in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and modern technologies. This was achieved through specialized training workshops, mentorship sessions, and hands-on experience with real-world projects that address societal challenges in direct collaboration with IBM experts.
The initiative included the design of six innovative projects, which were: "Green Goal," "Data Speak," "Bunyan," "Herafona," "Tebya," and "Food Safety Verification Scanner." The students presented these projects using IBM's latest technologies, including the WatsonX platform, under the supervision of faculty members from the college.
At the conclusion of the initiative, the projects were presented to a panel of experts and specialists from IBM. The participating students were also honored by IBM during the IBM Think 2025 annual global conference.
Dr. Manal Al-Ohali, Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, explained that "these initiatives reflect our commitment to developing students' skills in advanced technology fields. We continue to strengthen our partnerships with global companies to provide new educational opportunities and training that will enable them to lead in the future digital world."
The IBM SkillsBuild initiative is part of the College of Computer and Information Sciences’ contribution to achieving the strategic plan of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University 2025. The plan aims to prepare competitive competencies, support an integrated system for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and enhance women's leadership in the development journey.
