Nuclear Medicine Technology Program

​​Mission:

To qualify cadres with comprehensive knowledge, professional and research skills that enable them to meet the latest standards of the nuclear medicine technology profession for the development of health care and community services.

Goals:

1.To provide the graduate with the knowledge and skills needed within the field of nuclear medicine technology
2. To enhance the graduate’s professional characteristics, communication and leadership skills needed within the field of nuclear medicine technology
3. To enable the graduate to contribute effectively in promoting health and radiation safety in the society
4.To provide the graduate with the research skills needed to conduct research to develop the field of nuclear medicine technology


Graduate Attributes: 

•Knowledge: Knowledgeable of the basic concepts, theories and principles associated with the field of Nuclear Medicine Technology. 

•Application: Capable to use recent technology effectively as well as use the attained theoretical knowledge to perform nuclear medicine diagnostic or therapeutic examinations on a patient in an accurate, safe and timely manner in different contexts. 

•Critical thinking, analysis and creativity: Critical, innovative and creative in response to different challenges related to nuclear medicine profession. 

•Self-development: Adaptable to different environments through self-learning and through participation in learning situations that encourage development of competencies and professional characteristics related to the nuclear medicine profession. 

•Leadership skills: Capable of displaying leadership required for the full use of their intellectual abilities in different environments related to the nuclear medicine practice. 

•Communication skills: Good listener and a clear communicator when working in health care and when contributing to community service related the nuclear medicine field. 

•Aptitude and attitude: Capable of complying with “Standards of Professional Performance” and the “Code of Ethics for the Profession of Nuclear Medicine Specialist”. 

•Community service: Responsible in raising awareness in the community about the benefits and harms of radiation used in nuclear medicine procedures.

Knowledge and understanding: 
K1: Describe theoretical principles, basic concepts, and safety standards relevant to the field of nuclear medicine. 
K2: Outline different procedures, applications and radiopharmaceuticals related to the nuclear medicine profession and research 

Skills:
S1: Relate characteristics of vital signs, radiopharmaceuticals and anatomical structures to physiological and pathophysiological processes. 
S2: Apply theoretical principles related to the practice of nuclear medicine and research in different contexts. 
S3: Demonstrate analytical thinking, problem-solving ability and effective communication in the processing of different procedures. 

Values:
V1: Show leadership, ethical and professional behavior in different teams and settings. 
V2: Comply with occupational and patient safety rules when handling sources of radiation.
