Bachelor of Arts in History

The History Department was established with the founding of the College of Arts in 1399 AH. In the following years, the History Departments in women colleges in Riyadh (Educational and Preparing Teachers Departments) were merged to become the History Department in the College of Arts. In 1436 AH, the department introduced a new curriculum for the bachelor’s program in History. In 1442 AH, two additional programs were introduced, making the total number of bachelor’s degree programs in the department three, namely: 1. History Program. 2. archaeology and Museums Program. 3. Tourism Guidance Program.

Nature and Goals of the Program

The program aims to contribute to the enhancement of national identity, fostering allegiance to the noble civilization, and enhancing interaction and dialogue built on respecting human cultures.

Career opportunities

The program aligns with the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations. To offer various job opportunities for history graduates, including: 1.Historian 2.History Specialist 3.Additionally, graduates from humanities disciplines, in general can pursue various roles. 4.Several institutions in the Kingdom engage in diverse projectc attracting history graduates, such as King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, Al-Diriyah Gate Development Authority, the Royal Commission for Al-Ula, and others. 5.In 2020, Saudi Arabia established several commissions under the Ministry of Culture, in line with the history major. To focus on enhancing national identity and highlighting the cultural heritage. These commissions include the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, Fashion Commission, Film Commission, Heritage Commission, Architecture and Design Commission, Visual Arts Commission, Museums Commission, Theater and Performing Arts Commission, Libraries Commission, Music Commission, and Culinary Arts Commission.

  1. 1.1 Provide a specialized knowledge structure of historical and cultural facts and concepts at the national, regional, and global levels in ancient and Islamic history, in line with recent developments in the field.
  2. 1.2 Provide a specialized knowledge structure of historical and cultural facts and concepts at the national, regional, and global levels in modern and contemporary history, in accordance with recent developments in the field.
  3. 1.3 Present a comprehensive and systematic understanding of facts and concepts related to women's history and their cultural role, based on current advancements in the field.
  4. 1.4 Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of research methodology and methods for handling historical sources.
  5. 2.1 Apply concepts and skills of analysis, inquiry, and research in historical information.
  6. 2.2 Master effective communication skills, knowledge transfer, and expression of ideas.
  7. 2.3 Utilize modern technologies and applications to process, analyze, present, and produce historical information innovatively to support specialized historical knowledge.
