About The Academic Program

The Department of Journalism and Media was established in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University in the academic year 1445 AH. It aims to achieve women’s leadership in the national development process. The department grants a bachelor's degree in digital journalism by offering an integrated academic program that keeps pace with successive developments in journalism and media, and aims to prepare media cadres with the necessary knowledge, and research and professional competence qualified in the field of journalism and media to contribute to community service.

Graduates have the opportunity to work in various fields, including: Public Sector: Journalistic researcher, assistant journalistic researcher, journalistic editor, journalistic specialist, publications monitor, news editing secretary. Private Sector: Electronic content writer, electronic content manager, news correspondent, news editor, journalistic director.

Nature and Goals of the Program

The program aims to provide specialized journalists in the field of digital journalism.

1. Provide students with the essential knowledge needed to construct journalistic discourse.
2. Equip students with the ability to utilize modern technologies to produce distinctive media content in correct language.
3. Employ scientific research skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation in the field of digital journalism among students.
4. Enhance the ethics of journalistic and digital media work in accordance with Islamic and Arab culture and human heritage
5. ‏Utilize digital media to serve community issues and make a qualitative difference in responding to the requirements of development and the job market.

The student will be able to identify concepts and theories related to media, print journalism, digital journalism, and journalistic institutions.
The student will classify types and styles of media writing and their characteristics in various media outlets.
The student will employ critical thinking and problem-solving in managing dialogues, meetings, and journalistic interviews.
4. The student will analyze media materials objectively.
5. The student will produce media materials using computer applications and digital media creatively.
6. The student will actively participate in leading teams and personal and professional development.
7. The student will adhere to ethical standards of professional practice.
