About The Academic Program

Nature and Goals of the Program

The program provides graduates with skills and knowledge in the field of therapeutic nutrition and disease prevention through understanding the fundamentals of nutrition and clinical nutrition, acquiring practical skills, understanding nutritional elements, and designing appropriate meal plans. The program also involves monitoring health problems related to nutrition and implementing suitable dietary programs for different groups in health and disease.

Program Details

  1. 1-Gain high-quality education and training to succeed in dietetic practice.

  2. K1. Understand the pathophysiology, laboratory and metabolic pathways under normal conditions and disease.
  3. K2. Recognize concepts in nutrition, food composition, food intake, food handling and food safety.
  4. K3. Understand the basics of scientific research and statistical analysis.
  5. K4. Recognize the importance of nutrition education and behavior change within community and family context.
  6. K5. Outline the appropriate medical nutrition therapy for various conditions.

  8. S1. Differentiate between nutritional needs at different age groups and under normal conditions and disease based on nutritional assessment.
  9. S2. Plan an appropriate diet plan and nutrition support for healthy lifestyle and for different diseases.
  10. S3. Design nutrition intervention for individuals and community.
  11. S4. Write scientific research proposal and reports.
  12. S5. Perform comprehensive nutritional evaluation for patient under different health conditions.
  13. S6. Apply effective communication skills in different health settings.

  15. V1. Behave according Standards of Professional Performance and the Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics.
  1. 1-Students should be able to participate in educational situations that require skill in gathering and remembering information about a patient, client, group, organization, community, to provide diagnosis, intervention, nutrition, and health care.
  2. 2-Students must consistently demonstrate required leadership to make full use of their intellectual abilities. Students must demonstrate the ability to work and respond effectively in situations of high tension and potential conflict.
  3. 3-Students must demonstrate the cognitive and memory skills necessary for measurement, arithmetic, and reasoning in order to analyze, integrate, and synthesize information.
  4. 4-Act in accordance with the standards of professional performance and the code of professional conduct for the profession of nutrition.
  5. 5-Students must demonstrate professional clinical skills and knowledge application in clinical settings (eg, anthropometrics and body composition).
  6. 6-Students must be able to monitor clients, staff, and health professionals in order to obtain information effectively and efficiently to provide the best diagnosis, intervention, nutrition and healthcare.
  7. 7-Competence and Conduct: Students should have the ability and desire to develop the high level of professionalism expected in a clinical nutrition program and career in dietetics and clinical nutrition.
