The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Student Support Unit at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, organized the closing ceremony of the Students with Disabilities Support Unit for the academic year 1447H, celebrating the key achievements and initiatives provided to empower students with disabilities and enhance their academic and professional success. The ceremony was held at the university's premises and attended by university staff, graduating students, and high-achieving students.
The ceremony highlighted the unit's most notable achievements and initiatives, which were designed to provide comprehensive services to all students across various categories of disability, including: visual impairment; deafness and hearing impairment; physical disability; learning difficulties; autism spectrum disorder; attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); communication disorders; and chronic illnesses.
The achievements of the Deanship's Student Support Unit spanned several key areas, including activating supplementary academic support, providing advanced technical support, holding individual educational sessions for students, as well as offering specialized consultative sessions for faculty members through the "Support Me" program, aimed at developing their skills in teaching students with disabilities.
Dr. Lama Al-Owairdhi, Director of the Students with Disabilities Support Unit at the Deanship of Student Affairs, stated that the unit's distinguished achievements and initiatives have contributed to enhancing the quality of services provided to students with disabilities by creating a supportive university environment conducive to their success.
The ceremony included honoring students who won awards in competitions across various fields, as well as recognizing outstanding students for their artificial intelligence projects serving people with disabilities, contributing to the advancement of technical innovation. It also featured the honoring of students from the "Tamkeen [Empowerment] Club" and outstanding unit staff members, alongside a presentation of the unit's key achievements and programs in academic and technical consultation, which contribute to enhancing academic success opportunities and promoting a culture of empowerment and inclusion.
This initiative reflects the continued role of the Deanship of Student Affairs in supporting the goals of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University's strategic plan, which aims to provide a supportive and motivating university environment by promoting initiatives that ensure equal opportunities and enable students with disabilities to participate and excel across various fields.
