Master of Arts Program in Islamic Studies


About the Program:
In 1436H, the Department of Islamic Studies started to offer three master's programs, namely: the Interpretation and Sciences of the Qur'an Program, the Sunnah and its Sciences Program with two paths ( the Path of Hadith Sciences, and the Path of Sunnah and Jurisprudence) and Aqidah (Islamic Creed) Program. Later, in 1439H, the Sunnah and its Sciences Program has been merged into one path. An additional program offered was the Faqah (Jurisprudence), followed by the Fundamentals of Faqah (Jurisprudence) in 1440H, which have been added to the offered master's programs, making a total of five master's programs.
Admission Requirements: 

1-      The student has a bachelor's degree with a very good grade, or higher, with honours from a Saudi university or another recognized university.

2-      Each student must achieve 65%, or higher, on the Post-Graduate General Aptitude Test (PGAT) from the National Center for Assessment.

3-      The student must provide two academic recommendations.

4-      The student must memorize at least five juzu (parts of the Qur an).

5-      The student must submit a letter of no objection from her employer for employees of the civil service positions.

6-      The student must not exceed 30 years old.

7-      The student must pass the required interview, placement test and Quran recital test.

Graduates' career opportunities include the following sectors:

1-      Faculty positions in the department and similar departments in colleges related to the specialization such as (College of Law).

2-      Careers in the law and legal consulting sector.

3-      Teaching in international universities, especially for international scholarship students.

4-      Legal advisors and religious guides in all state institutions, such as hospitals and prisons.

5-      Teachers in schools and Quran memorization institutions.

6-      Careers in supervision and investigation sector.

7-      Careers in ministries such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.

8-      Careers in King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue.

9-      Careers in King Abdullah for Current Islamic Studies.
