Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University seeks to adopt a Freedom of Information Policy as one of the strategic components that support the enhancement of transparency and accountability, and to ensure access to public information held by the University in accordance with approved regulatory controls and regulations. This policy also constitutes a fundamental pillar in strengthening institutional governance and enabling the effective use of information in a manner that serves the public interest and aligns with the national direction toward supporting the data and knowledge economy.
Freedom of Information Guiding Principles:
1. Transparency
Enabling individuals to access public information in a clear, straightforward, and user-friendly manner.
2. Necessity and Proportionality
Any restrictions imposed on protected information—received, produced, or processed by the University—must be justified, clearly defined, and proportionate.
3. Disclosure as the Default for Public Information
Every individual has the right to access or obtain public, non-protected information. The requester is not required to have a specific status or a particular interest in the information in order to exercise this right.
4. Equality
All requests to access or obtain public information shall be handled on the basis of equality and without discrimination among individuals.
