The Clinical Skills and Simulation Center is equipped with a range of specialized educational labs that offer training in a safe, realistic, and high-quality environment. The center provides hands-on training for healthcare professionals, including students and specialists, using the latest innovative technologies in healthcare training. It consists of five skill labs, organized as follows:

Procedural Skills Labs:

These labs offer an innovative learning environment that upholds the highest standards to enhance clinical skills, and include the following:Medium and Low-Tech Mannequins: These mannequins, which closely resemble the human body in both shape and, in some cases, interactive responses, are used to train students at the health colleges of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, staff at King Abdullah University Hospital, and a well as external organizations. They are primarily designed to develop nursing skills and foundational healthcare practices.

Task Simulators: Specialized simulation devices designed to help learners practice specific medical skills. They are designed to provide training for specific medical procedures, allowing for repeated practice to build confidence and experience for real-life applications. Such simulators are used to teach competency-based skills and procedural tasks such as airway management, gastric tube placement, lumbar puncture, and intravenous procedures.

Medical Equipment and Devices:
Medical devices assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients, helping them overcome illness and improve their quality of life. These include glucose meters, vital signs monitors, nebulizers, orthopedic devices, plaster-cutting tools, and other medical equipment. Additionally, there are specialized storage areas to supply all necessary medical consumables and materials.

Virtual Reality Surgical Training Lab: This lab offers a safe learning environment to advance surgical skills based on best practices. It is equipped with virtual reality systems and specialized devices for training in surgical techniques, from basic to advanced procedures. Skills are broken down into individual exercises, with progressively increasing difficulty. Training includes the use of surgical endoscopes, providing an innovative, interactive experience for trainees to safely and effectively develop their skills in procedures like gastroscopy, colonoscopy, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, urological surgeries, and various other scenarios.

Simulation Theaters:

The Clinical Skills and Simulation Center features advanced simulation theaters and labs designed to apply different medical scenarios for training healthcare teams. Such scenarios are conducted in specialized settings, including inpatient wards, emergency departments, operating rooms, and intensive care units. The realistic, immersive environment helps enhance clinical skills and plays a key role in improving healthcare quality outcomes.

These simulation theaters are equipped with the following:

  • Medical Devices such as ventilators, vital signs monitoring equipment, and electrocardiogram (ECG) machines.
  • High-Tech Mannequins that provide realistic physiological responses, including heart sounds, seizure activity, pupil response, and breathing. Such mannequins are used to teach physical examination techniques and basic clinical skills through interactive programming that simulates real patient scenarios.
  • Medical Equipment and Supplies including personal protective equipment (PPE) and disposable items such as gloves, syringes, and blood collection tubes.
