Brief About Department

​The Department of Networks and Communication Systems has been launched in 1428/1429H as a part of CCIS to allow the students to achieve a deeper understating of basic and modern communication systems and networks, which are a core technology in all public and private industrial fields. The department offered a broad range of courses that belong to many knowledge areas including Information Technology Fundamentals, Computer and Network Security, Computer Networking, Advanced Networking, Integrative Programming and Technologies… Later, the title of the department has been changed to Information Technology according to the decision of Ministry of Education number 517 dated on 24/4/1437H. The main motivation of this process concerns the satisfaction of accreditation international accreditation requirements. Further, the ABET accreditation board is eligible to approve program in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology. In addition, the IT ACM_IEEE 2008 indicates that the networking is a knowledge area of Information Technology. To this end, the department has revised its academic program to fulfill Abet requirements​

Language of Instruction:
Students will study all the specialized courses in English, while the rest of the courses will be taught in both Arabic and English.

Various public and private Information Technology sectors including, but not limited to:
• Computer networks management.
• Database management.
• Software development.
• Information security.
• Development of computer systems.
• Public and higher education institutions.
• Research and technical training centers.
Student Outcomes (SOs):
The program must enable students to attain, by the time of graduation:
(a) An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the program’s student outcomes and to the discipline
(b) An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution
(c) An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs
(d) An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal
(e) An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities
(f) An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
(g) An ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society
(h) Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continuing professional development
(i) An ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.
(j) An ability to use and apply current technical concepts and practices in the core information technologies of human computer interaction, information management, programming, networking, and web systems and technologies. 
(k) An ability to identify and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based systems.
(l) An ability to effectively integrate IT-based solutions into the user environment. 
(m) An understanding of best practices and standards and their application.
(n) An ability to assist in the creation of an effective project plan.​
