General Administration of Operation and Maintenance
Brief About Department

Overview

The Operation and Maintenance Department at Princess Noura University was established in the month of Rajab 1427 AH, after its separation from the Department of Services at Riyadh University for Girls (Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University currently).

In the year 1436 AH, the approval of the High Commissioner was issued to establish a Vice-Rectorate at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University, called the University Vice-Rectorate for Facilities and Operation, and based on the generous directives the name was activated according to the circular of Her Excellency the Rector of the University No. (33240) dated 6/19/1436 AH, which resulted in the expansion of the Vice-Rectorate and its affiliated departments, including the General Administration of Operation and Maintenance, after amending its name, a number of units were associated with the Department with vital and multiple tasks, namely the Operation Unit, the Maintenance Unit, the Transport Unit (Furniture) and the Observers Unit.

In the year 1440 AH, the University Rector's Decision No. (38259) dated 1/11/1440 AH was issued to develop the administrative organization of the university's Vice-Rectorates and departments, as the units affiliated with the department were modified to be divided into Operation Department, Maintenance Department, Assets Department, General Services Department and Document Control and Organization Department.

Departments

1. Operational Department

It is the department that is responsible for implementing the general strategy for the operation of university facilities, participating in developing and approving operating plans for contractors, monitoring their implementation, managing operations, monitoring contractors' performance, ensuring that they follow the correct technical operating methods to get the best benefit from and maintain systems and technologies in the university, and coordinate contractors' work. Ensure that there is no overlap between them.

2- Maintenance Department

The Maintenance Department works to maintain the equipment and systems in non-stop operation at the lowest cost, the shortest time, and high quality, and works to increase the life of the equipment through its periodic maintenance. It also works on documenting maintenance records for equipment and systems, developing solutions to problems of recurring faults, and ensuring contractors' competence in technical maintenance work in the correct ways.

4. Asset Department

Asset Department is responsible for establishing a comprehensive university asset management program focused on obtaining the required level of service from assets in the most cost-efficient manner. This department is specifically responsible for the following:

  - Strategic planning for asset management including life cycle planning.

  - Managing the asset sheet within the facilities management system using the computer.

  - Asset Condition Assessment Survey (CAS) software.

 5. General Services Department

The General Services Department is interested in following up on public services in the university campus, such as cleaning services, agriculture, and others, in order to provide an integrated service environment that contributes to the success of the goals of the educational environment.

6. The Document Control and Organization Department
The Document Control and Organization Department works to preserve documents, contracts, and all official documents related to operation and maintenance, and regulates the relationship between the university and contractors, and between all business parties in the University, to preserve rights and ensure the implementation of the correct contracting terms and regulations.
Tasks
·         Supervising the periodic maintenance work at the university.
• Follow up the technical condition of devices and equipment in general.
• Ensure the safety and quality of the work carried out in the maintenance and operation sector.
• Provide the necessary materials for the operational processes commensurate with the size and nature of the work.
• Inspect work sites for public services and ensure their safety and readiness.
• Work to maintain the university's facilities and affiliated sites in terms of operation and maintenance.
• Preserving the aesthetic appearance of the university city and its facilities.
• Supervising the university consultants and the six package contractors at the university.
• Carrying out transfers between colleges.
• Carrying out preventive maintenance.
• Develop energy and water conservation programs and follow up on their implementation.
