Brief

 

The General Administration for Projects was established in 1428 AH under the umbrella of the Facilities and Support Department at the university, and at that time all engineers at the university followed it. In the year 1436 AH, the approval of the High Commissioner was issued to establish a Vice-Rectorate at the university under the name of the University Vice-Rectorate for Facilities and Operation. Accordingly, the name was activated according to the circular of Her Excellency the Rector of the University No. (33240) dated 6/19/1436 AH, which resulted in the expansion of the Vice-Rectorate and its affiliated departments, including Project Administration, The Administration has become affiliated with two administrative units, the Studies and Designs Unit and the Projects Unit.

In the year 1440 AH, the University Rector's Decision No. (38259) dated 1/11/1440 AH was issued to develop the administrative organization of the university and its departments, as the name of the General Administration of Projects was modified to the Engineering Department, while preserving the name of the administrative units in it.

 

Tasks

- Implementation of the policy of the Vice Presidency for Facilities and Operation regarding the design and implementation of engineering projects.

- Preparing general plans for the implementation of projects to meet the needs of the university according to the requirements of need and development, setting priorities and following up on their implementation after approval.

- Preparing the conditions, specifications and plans for the various engineering projects of the university, in addition to updating and developing the technical specifications for the projects.

- Receiving applications, identifying the needs of new projects that the university needs, and determining their estimated budgets in coordination with the relevant departments.

- Offering engineering university projects to be implemented for design or implementation for public competition, completing tender procedures according to approved rules and regulations, and coordinating with relevant departments.

 - Participation in the preparation of the Vice-Rectorate annual budget, the preparation of special conditions for contracts and estimates, and in the technical and financial analysis committees of university projects, in addition to the final receipt of the implemented projects.

- Approval of the studies completed by the consulting office, reservation of the value of the project to be implemented, and approval of contractors to start executing the works.

-  Formation of technical committees to analyze the offers and then submit them to the competent authority.

-  Supervision, coordination and follow-up of the implemented works.

-  Checking the quality of the works executed according to the contract documents.

-  Documenting the standards adopted in the design process.

- Follow-up and review the designs submitted for the university's engineering projects in cooperation with the contracted consulting offices.

- Ensure compliance with relevant specifications and standards during the design process.

- Studying and approving proposed changes to designs.

- Preparing studies and estimates and supervising the design of these projects.

-  Reviewing, amending and approving plans submitted by contractors.

-  Processing periodic and final extracts.

-  Searching for appropriate solutions to the technical problems that hinder the implementation of projects.

- Technical analysis of offers submitted for the implementation of studies and designs for university projects in coordination with the Procurement Department.

- Checking the financial extracts provided by the companies executing the university's projects in coordination with the Financial Affairs Department.

Departments

Studies and Designs Department:

- Supervision, coordination and follow-up of the implemented work.

- Checking the quality of the works executed according to the contract documents.

- Documentation of standards adopted in the design process.

- Follow-up and review the designs submitted for the university's engineering projects in cooperation with the contracted consulting offices.

- Ensure compliance with relevant specifications and standards during the design process.

- Studying and approving proposed changes to designs.

-  Preparing studies and estimates and supervising the design of projects.

-  Reviewing, amending and approving plans submitted by contractors.

-  Processing periodic and final extracts.

-  Searching for appropriate solutions to the technical problems that hinder the implementation of projects.

- Supervising the implementation of projects and submitting periodic reports on their implementation.

 

Projects Department:

- Studying, implementing and supervising urgent projects in cooperation with the university consultants.

- Work to find quick and practical solutions that are characterized by safety and quality at a specific time without disrupting the colleges' programs during the university study period and at an appropriate cost.

Key Department

 

What is key Department?

It is the department responsible for issuing all keys for the university campus buildings, except for the hospital building.

 

Who is entitled to get a key?

All members of the educational and administrative staff who are eligible to own keys to their offices.

 

What are the procedures for obtaining a key?

1- Fill out a key request form.

2- Submit the form to Key Department to receive a key.

3- Sign by receiving the key after showing a valid university card.

 

What do you do when the key is lost?

Inform the Keys Department of the loss of keys immediately, so that the Department takes the necessary measures and issues replacement keys, knowing that the key owner will bear the costs of lost keys.
