Brief

The Crisis and Risk Management Department was established by a decision of Her Excellency the Rector of the University No. 23816 dated 03/04/1437 AH, and the Environment Protection Unit was added by a decision of Her Excellency the Vice President No. 56317 dated 12/26/1438 AH.

Its work is based on preserving the university city from all risks and crises that may occur in the future - God forbid - and providing the highest levels of safety in all buildings and facilities of the university city. The administration is also keen to cooperate with the competent authorities inside and outside the university city. Addressing all risks, preparing for them and mitigating them if they occur. It also makes contingency plans for all possibilities. These plans are developed by specialized committees and with the participation of all relevant authorities.

These risks may include severe weather, accidents of hazardous materials, disruption of services such as electricity and water, terrorist acts, technical risks and humanitarian crises, and their negative effects on the safety of university employees and the progress of the educational process.

The administration contributes to raising the readiness of the various sectors of the university to face emergencies or disasters that may occur, using the latest monitoring methods, activating the comprehensive warning system, preparing shelters and making evacuation plans.

Through these plans, the administration seeks to advance its work and work to address any risks or challenges it may face, and to ensure the readiness of individuals through the implementation of these plans and coordination with the concerned authorities in the university to work on training and developing all its employees through specialized programs to raise the level of employee performance and identify On the best modern practices, which will contribute, with the help of God Almighty, to the university city being free from all dangers, so that Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University will become a safe educational, practical and recreational environment.

 

Objectives:

1.       Take preventive measures to mitigate the occurrence of the crisis.

2.       Preparing plans and scenarios to deal with crises and risks of all kinds.

3.       Spreading cultural awareness of crisis and disaster management and how to implement response and relief work.

4.       Work on modernizing early warning and monitoring devices.

 

mission:

• Improving the skills and capabilities of faculty members, workers and students in facing crises and disasters that may occur, God forbid.

• Preparing an integrated risk management plan based on the strategic plan of Princess Noura University.

• Identifying, classifying and managing the risks that the university is exposed to, or may be exposed to, and evaluating and monitoring them continuously.

• Following up and evaluating the methods that have been relied upon in risk management.

• Preparing a documented guide for risk management policy at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University.

• Establishing a documented risk management process for each college or university administrative unit.

• Creating a record of the various risks that the university is exposed to and updating it constantly.

• Developing and modifying the university's risk management performance and practices in pursuit of continuous improvement and achieving the best results.

• Seeking help from specialists from inside and outside the university in carrying out all work related to the analysis and management of risks of all kinds.

• Determine the mechanisms and tools required to control risks.

• Preparing training programs for university employees to spread the culture of risk management.

• Supervise field teams to implement risk management requirements and define their tasks and responsibilities.

• Developing early warning and monitoring mechanisms to alert the university to corrective actions to manage any potential risks.

Departments

 

Emergency Response Department:

 • Receiving communications and taking important information after verifying the validity of the report and submitting it to the Director of Crisis Management to take the necessary action according to the type of case.

 

 • Monitoring and controlling all risks at the level of the university campus, collecting and analyzing negative indicators and submitting them to the higher authorities, coupled with the proposed solutions to help speed up decision-making.

 

 • Issuing orders related to emergency situations, including raising or lowering the state of alert for the various sectors within the university campus (Crisis and Risk Management - Security Department - Safety Department - Operation and Maintenance Department).

 

•  Communicating with the internal authorities in the university city, while serving to deal with events that appear in a timely manner.

 

•  Daily follow-up with the security operations room to know the security situation, and immediate coordination with them in emergency cases.

 

•  Collecting, classifying, analyzing and evaluating all information and daily facts around the clock, according to the degree and quality of the report, with the follow-up of the incident on an ongoing basis, and reporting it to the Director of the Department.

 

 • Issuing warning information to the concerned authorities within the university campus.

 

 

 

 

Planning and Preparation Department

 

 • Planning for crises and disasters likely to occur in the short / medium / long term.

 

•  Planning to conduct virtual experiments throughout the year to train all employees and participants in the implementation of emergency plans.

 

•  Take preventive measures to prevent the settlement of the crisis or disaster.

 

 • Prepare to handle events such as personnel training and equipment maintenance.

 

 • Spreading cultural awareness of disaster and crisis management, and carrying out training workshops to raise the level of efficiency of University workers in this field.

 

 • Formation and training of crisis management teams for emergencies in each entity and building and defining the duties and tasks assigned to each of them to serve as a general framework for the implementation of evacuation plans and emergency response.

 

 • Developing monitoring and early warning mechanisms in the field of crisis and disaster management whenever possible.

 

 • Preparing an operations room for crisis and disaster management equipped with appropriate communication devices.

 

Risk Analysis Department:

 

•  Study and identify all risks in the university city.

 

•  Identification of persons and property concerned with danger.

 

•  Evaluate risks and decide on necessary precautions.

 

 • Provide appropriate solutions to prevent or reduce the risk if it occurs.

 

•  Analyzing data on work accidents and injuries, occupational diseases and serious accidents, and drawing the necessary recommendations to prevent accidents and work injuries.

 

•  Evaluation, review and update if necessary.
