Overview
The Foundation Year Program Administration aims to prepare students to enroll in bachelor’s programs in the colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health and Rehabilitation sciences. It also aims to provide specialized laboratory educational services for students in the specialized programs in the colleges of Health and Engineering through the management and operation of the Joint Laboratories Unit for the Health Colleges in the Foundation Year building.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic planning for the Administration of Foundation Year Program and following up on implementation.
- Managing the educational process, including the Joint Labs for Health Colleges, e-learning, registration and schedules, operating lab courses for Foundation year students, and following exams conducting.
- Operating the educational process in coordination with the Deanship of Admission and Registration, the Administration of Plans and Curricula at the University Vice Rectorate for Educational Affairs, Health Colleges, the College of Science, English Language Institute, and the Department of General Course Requirements.
- Providing faculty members from health colleges to teach foundation year courses to fulfill study schedules and performing continuous communications with the coordinators of Science College and English Language Institute to ensure the progress of Educational process.
- Preparing and developing courses and providing unified lectures and exams for the foundation year courses in coordination with the involved colleges through operating and managing the Unified Committees and implementing both theoretical and practical parts in FYHC classes and Labs.
- Applying teaching and learning methods based on critical thinking, problem solving, and self-learning methodologies throughout providing multiple learning resources and activating extracurricular scientific activities.
- Providing updated learning resources, new electronic references and interactive teaching aids to students for all foundation year courses.
- Academic guidance for foundation year students by empowering the administrative staff and supervising the implementation of students' unified activities in coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs and providing a supportive environment for students through comprehensive student services.
- Conducting preparation programs, events and scientific activities that enhance the student’s academic journey, compatible with the needs of foundation year students, and implementing annual initiatives based on the approach of measuring impact and applying development plans.
- Managing administrative efficiency tasks in the foundation year and creating partnerships and business development opportunities to establish joint projects between the administration, the university, and community sectors.
