Journal Rights

  1. The Editorial Board reserves the right to conduct an initial screening of submitted manuscripts and determine their eligibility for peer review.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief may provide authors of manuscripts that are not accepted for publication with the reviewers' comments or a summary thereof, without disclosing the reviewers' identities. The journal is not obligated to respond to any objections raised by the author.
  3. A manuscript will be deemed withdrawn if the author fails to submit the required revisions within one month of receiving the journal's decision, unless the Editorial Board determines that there are compelling circumstances warranting an extension.
  4. If a manuscript is not accepted for publication, the journal is not obligated to provide reasons for the decision.
  5. Priority for publication is given to accepted manuscripts based on the date of acceptance. The order in which manuscripts appear within an issue is determined by the journal's design and production process.
  6. Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication by a scientific journal of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, it may not be published in another scholarly journal.
  7. The journal reserves the right to republish previously published manuscripts, in print or electronic form, without obtaining the author's permission. It may also authorize third parties to include its published research in various databases, whether for a fee or free of charge.
  8. No entity may use the journal's content for commercial purposes without the written permission of the Editor-in-Chief.
  9. Upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, publishing rights are transferred from the author to the journal, and copyright is retained by the publisher, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make necessary modifications to the manuscript in accordance with the journal's citation and editorial style, including language editing and the formatting of tables, figures, images, and text.
  10. Submitted manuscripts are not returned to their authors, whether or not they are accepted for publication.


Author Responsibilities and Rights

  1. The author will be notified upon receipt of the manuscript through the journal's designated online submission system and will be provided with a manuscript reference number.
  2. The author will be notified of the outcome of the initial screening conducted by the Editorial Board member specializing in the relevant field. This screening determines whether the manuscript is eligible for peer review and will be completed within two working weeks of the date the author is assigned a manuscript reference number.
  3. The author will be notified of the peer-review outcome by receiving a summary of the reviewers' comments if the manuscript is accepted, or a notification that the manuscript has been declined for publication if it does not pass the peer-review stage. This notification will be sent within two working weeks of the journal's receipt of the reviewers' reports.
  4. The author will receive an Acceptance for Publication Letter upon completing the reviewers' required revisions and obtaining approval from the relevant Editorial Board member.
  5. The journal will provide the author with an electronic copy of the issue in which the manuscript is published.
  6. The author may not republish a manuscript published in the journal, whether in print or electronic form, through any other publication outlet without prior written permission from the journal in which the manuscript was published.
  7. The author may not withdraw the manuscript once the journal has initiated the peer-review process.
  8. The author must comply with the manuscript submission requirements and guidelines established by the Saudi Art and Design Journal, as well as the principles and standards of research and publication ethics.
  9. The author must adhere to the principles of academic integrity and respect intellectual property rights.
  10. In the case of co-authored research, the submitting author must obtain the written consent of all co-authors and specify the contribution made by each author to the research.
  11. The author must not submit a manuscript that has been previously published, either in whole or in part, in any form or language. The author must also not submit the manuscript to another publication outlet while it is under consideration by the journal. Once accepted for publication, the manuscript may not be republished without the journal's prior written permission.
  12. The author must implement the revisions specified in the reviewers' reports and provide an explanation for any comments or suggested revisions that are not addressed.
  13. The author must submit the revised final version of the manuscript within two weeks of receiving the revision request, through the author's online account on the journal's website or via the journal's official email.
  14. The author must disclose any potential conflict of interest arising from the research and identify all sources of financial support for the research.
  15. The views expressed in the materials submitted for publication are those of the authors. The authors bear responsibility for the accuracy, validity, and reliability of the information and conclusions presented.
  16. The final version of the manuscript will be sent to the author for review prior to publication. If the author has any comments or concerns, they should be communicated directly to the Editor-in-Chief.



Reviewer Responsibilities

  1. Reviewers must respond to the initial invitation to review within three days of receiving the review invitation. Upon accepting the invitation, reviewers must complete their review within a maximum of two weeks from the date of acceptance.
  2. Reviewers must conduct their evaluations with academic integrity and impartiality, without bias based on any considerations unrelated to the manuscript.
  3. Reviewers must decline to review any manuscript that falls outside their area of expertise or for which they do not have sufficient knowledge or experience.
  4. Reviewers must treat manuscripts received for review as confidential documents and must not disclose or discuss their contents with others, except as authorized by the Editor-in-Chief.
  5. Reviewers must not use a manuscript under review in any way to obtain an improper personal or professional benefit for themselves or others.
  6. Reviewers must provide detailed comments in accordance with the journal's approved review form. They should not limit their evaluation to a general assessment, and their comments must address the manuscript rather than the author personally.
  7. If a reviewer identifies textual appropriation or plagiarism in the manuscript under review, they must identify the specific passages in which it occurs and provide supporting evidence.



Editorial Board Responsibilities

  1. The Editorial Board is responsible for ensuring the quality of manuscripts submitted for publication and for assigning them to reviewers with relevant academic expertise and specialization.
  2. The Editorial Board must ensure geographical diversity among reviewers and should not assign all reviewers from the same academic institution.
  3. The Editorial Board must consider an author's request to exclude a particular reviewer before reviewers are assigned, provided that the Board finds the reasons and justification compelling. The Editorial Board must also require all reviewers to disclose any conflict of interest before accepting the review assignment and commencing the review process.
  4. The Editorial Board must exercise its responsibilities with integrity, objectivity, and fairness, and must not discriminate against authors on the basis of any unlawful or irrelevant considerations.
  5. The Editorial Board must provide authors with a reasonable opportunity to respond to reviewers' comments on their manuscripts.
  6. The Editorial Board must maintain the confidentiality of information relating to manuscripts and authors throughout the peer-review process.
  7. The Editor-in-Chief must notify the author of an accepted manuscript of its acceptance for publication and the issue in which it is scheduled to appear.



Research Ethics Involving Human and Animal Subjects

The Saudi Art and Design Journal is committed to the highest ethical standards in scientific research and requires all authors to comply with relevant national and international ethical guidelines and regulations when conducting research involving human participants or animals.

Researchers conducting studies involving human participants or animals must adhere to the following requirements:

Ethical Approval

Researchers must obtain approval from the accredited research ethics committee at their affiliated institution and provide evidence of such approval when submitting the manuscript to the journal.

Informed Consent

All relevant information about the study must be clearly explained to human participants, and their written informed consent must be obtained prior to participation. Participants must also be assured of their right to withdraw from the study at any time without any consequences.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Researchers must respect participants' privacy and maintain the confidentiality of their data. No personally identifiable information that could lead to the identification of participants may be published without their explicit consent.

Animal Welfare

Research involving animals must comply with internationally recognized ethical principles and guidelines for the use of animals in scientific research. Researchers must take all necessary measures to minimize pain and suffering and must clearly describe the procedures adopted to ensure animal welfare.

Ethical Disclosure

Authors must state in the Methods section that the required ethical approvals were obtained and provide the name of the institution or ethics committee that granted the approval and the approval/reference number. Where ethical approval is not required, the authors must clearly explain the reason, where applicable.

Rejection of Unethical Research

The journal reserves the right to reject any manuscript that is found to be inconsistent with the ethical principles outlined above or in violation of applicable national or international regulations.
