Research to Innovate Program (We Innovate)
Aligned with our mission to achieve excellence and leadership in scientific research, the University's Vice Rectorate for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, through the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries, has developed a strategic plan to create a conducive research environment. This plan includes several initiatives, one of which is the Innovative Research Program (We Innovate).
This program aims to support innovative research projects that result in patent registrations. It is the first of its kind, managed jointly by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
The program is intended to motivate researchers to conduct innovative studies that align with the university's identity and contribute to the Kingdom's Vision 2030. It also fosters healthy competition in innovation within the university, ultimately increasing the number of patents registered under the university's name.
The program provides financial support (up to 25,000 SAR) for research published in internationally indexed journals, with researchers able to choose from the following funding options:
1. Fragmented Funding
The project budget is distributed in two installments as follows:
• The first installment, amounting to 50% of the approved budget, is disbursed after the contract is signed.
• The second installment, also 50% of the approved budget, is released after the final report is approved by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries Council, and the published research is submitted according to the "Conditions for Accepting Published Research" outlined in the program description.
2. Full Funding
The entire project budget is disbursed in a single payment after the final report is approved by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries Council and the published research is submitted according to the "Conditions for Accepting Published Research" outlined in the program description.
As for financial support for the patent derived from the project, including local and international patent registration fees and the inventor's reward, this will be provided by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the University's Vice Rectorate for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, as per approved policies and regulations.
