Lifestyle and Health Research Management:

The Lifestyle and Health Research Laboratories at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University were established in 2019. This is the first research center in the region focusing exclusively on lifestyle behaviors and health, with a particular emphasis on the health of children, adolescents, and women. The laboratories are located at the Health Sciences Research Center next to King Abdullah University Hospital, consisting of two large laboratories with additional areas for administrative offices, meeting rooms, statistical analysis and research spaces, and interview and assessment offices.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the creation of the Departments of Sports Medicine and Community Health was approved under the Lifestyle and Health Research Management.

Training Program:

This is a three-month research program offered at the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center, specializing in aspects of lifestyle and health. The program targets graduates in fields related to lifestyle and health promotion. It includes training on the fundamentals of practical research, alongside hands-on application through laboratory measurements at the Health Sciences Research Center. The program's outcomes and objectives align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle in Saudi society and improve quality of life through scientific research.

Research Services:

The laboratories are equipped with a variety of tools to conduct tests and measurements, including:

  • Cardiovascular and metabolic function measurements.
  • Skeletal muscle function assessments.
  • Body composition and bone density measurements.
  • Balance and reaction time assessments.
  • Flexibility, anthropometric measurements, and blood evaluation.

Research Areas for Lifestyle Research Management:

  • Population Studies on lifestyle behaviors: physical activity, nutrition, and mental health.
  • Linking lifestyle behaviors to internal changes in the human body (mechanistic studies).
  • Linking lifestyle behaviors to external changes (environmental studies).
  • Designing lifestyle interventions to promote healthy living (RCTs – Randomized Controlled Trials) and testing their effects on health and disease.
  • Designing intervention plans to enhance athletic and functional performance.
  • Developing strategies for the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
  • Testing methods for achieving long-term health and well-being.​
