The Research Accreditation and Publication Department provides scientific support services to align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. These services include logistical support and the promotion of scientific awareness. The department aims to enhance the quality and credibility of scientific research and facilitate the publication process of research findings.

Objectives:

  • Ensuring Research Quality and Ethical Compliance:
The department ensures that scientific research meets high standards of quality and adheres to ethical guidelines. This is achieved through the Research Ethics Committee, which ensures that participants' rights are respected and that ethical approvals for studies involving humans, animals, and other related procedures are granted.

  • Promoting Research Visibility:
The department works to enhance the visibility of research by engaging with the scientific community and media to facilitate knowledge exchange.

Services Provided:

  • Facilitating the Reception of Research:
The department handles the reception of all research proposals and ensures the completion of all necessary procedures, protecting research information and preventing conflicts of interest between researchers and staff members involved in the research process, including committee members and administrative personnel.

  • Training and Awareness for Researchers:
The department organizes workshops and specialized courses aimed at improving skills in scientific writing, research editing, scientific publication practices, communication techniques, intellectual property management, and research ethics.

  • Research Funding and Publication Support:
The department assists in securing funding for approved research projects and improves the publication process by guiding researchers in selecting appropriate journals for submission. It also offers support in managing intellectual property rights related to published research.

  • Intellectual Property Management Support:
The department provides guidance and support to researchers regarding intellectual property management. It helps researchers protect and manage patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other forms of intellectual property through collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

  • Research Environment Support:
The department fosters an integrated research environment to advance scientific progress and academic impact.

Institutional Review Board (IRB):
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is the research ethics committee at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, recognized and registered with the National Committee for Bioethics (NCBE) under registration number HA-01-R-104. All research proposals and manuscripts resulting from research must be approved by the IRB before execution. Proposals, along with supporting documents, must be submitted via email to irb@kaauh.edu.sa. Proposals that do not involve human interventions are typically approved within 5 working days. Proposals involving human interventions are considered more complex and require 4-6 weeks for approval. The IRB also monitors the implementation of approved research through continuous oversight and audits, and it approves any necessary modifications. Additionally, the IRB reviews and approves manuscripts before submission to journals and conducts training programs for researchers. The committee also provides advisory services on hypothesis formulation, proposal writing, funding applications, data collection, analysis, and publication.

Grant Program:
The Research Grant Program at the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is designed to financially support health sciences research in line with national health research priorities. The program is funded annually by the budget of the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center at the university. Research proposals are solicited and received following a specific format, which are then reviewed, registered, and classified as either fundable or non-fundable. For fundable proposals, budget negotiations take place before contract signing, leading to research execution, monitoring, and closure.

The Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department is a vital unit of the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center. It focuses on enhancing health research and training for the staff and students of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital. The department specializes in studying patterns of health events and applying statistical methods in biology. It offers research, education, and collaboration opportunities both internally and externally to improve health through epidemiological studies of individuals and communities.

Key Objectives:

  • Enhancing Scientific Knowledge:

    • Supporting and developing research that enhances the fundamental understanding of health sciences.

    • Encouraging research in advanced fields such as research methodology, statistics, and data analysis.

  • Training and Capacity Building:

    • Training researchers and students in scientific and statistical research skills.

    • Providing foundational research support in biostatistics and epidemiology.

Outcomes:

  • Published Research:

    • Producing scientific articles and research findings published in leading scientific journals.

    • Presenting research at international conferences and seminars to exchange results and expertise.

  • Innovations and New Applications:

    • Developing the first comprehensive Arabic Health Measurement Database (AHM) to help users select, access, and evaluate health measurement tools. The initiative aims to increase the number of reliable Arabic health measures by providing guidelines for translating tools, ensuring their accuracy, and offering opportunities for collaboration with other researchers on such projects.

  • Training and Education:

    • Graduating well-trained researchers who are proficient in research methodology.

    • Organizing workshops and specialized courses to enhance research skills.

    • Promoting applied scientific innovation in health sciences research by fostering an integrated research environment and stimulating scientific progress.

Services Provided:

  1. Data Clinic:

    • A free research consultancy service that helps researchers conduct sound and ethical research by providing guidance on research methodology, including: selecting a research question, writing study objectives, choosing an appropriate study design, designing surveys, selecting the sample and calculating sample size, as well as data analysis and interpretation.

    • For more information, please contact: hsrc-DC@pnu.edu.sa

  2. Research Projects and Collaborations:

    • Researchers with potential research ideas or proposals can collaborate with our team to receive extensive epidemiological or biostatistical support, becoming co-researchers (co-authors) on the project.

  3. Arabic Health Measurement Database Program:

    • This initiative aims to create the first database for Arabic health measurement tools to help users (researchers, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and the community) select reliable tools in a short time. The program also seeks to increase the number of trusted Arabic health measurement tools by providing guidance on tool translation, verifying their accuracy, and creating opportunities for collaboration with other researchers to carry out such projects.

  4. Research Citation Rate Service:
