About The Academic Program

The College of Nursing at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University offers a nursing program that focuses on preparing nurses with high competencies in nursing and research skills to provide comprehensive healthcare to the community. The program aims to be a leader in graduating professionally and research-oriented nurses to serve the community. The nursing program is five years long. The program starts with direct admission to the foundation year of the College of Nursing. After passing all the courses of the first year (foundation), the student is assigned to either nursing or midwifery. The program ends with a compulsory clinical internship (internship year) in the fifth year for a total of 12 months. Based on this, the student receives a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with the job title of nurse specialist. The program also offers an optional early exit point (Sigma program) after the student completes the first two years of the program. The student is then required to complete a field training period of six months. Based on this, the student receives a Diploma in Nursing degree with the job title of nursing technician.

Nature and Goals of the Program

The specialization aims to prepare and qualify national cadres with high professional competence to provide safe and specialized nursing care at a high level of accuracy based on theoretical and professional standards, to practice the nursing profession in various health institutions in the community. In order to ensure excellent and accessible healthcare for all citizens, and to improve nursing care and health services.

1-Provide nursing students with a high-quality learning environment consistent with the national and international standards
2- Graduate competent nurses to provide high quality health services to the community.
3-Develop nursing students’ scientific research skills and the culture of evidence-based practice.

Knowledge and Understanding:
K1 Synthesize the knowledge of basic and nursing sciences.
K2 Explain the trends and issues related to nursing education, practice, management, and research.
K3 Recognize the importance of nursing research process, methods, technologies, and evidence-based practice.

S1 Apply the nursing process to provide holistic care in variety of health care levels among individuals, families, and communities.
S2 Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
S3 Utilize technologies and informatics to improve quality of care and patient's outcomes.
