About The Academic Program

The department established in 1399 AH as one of the departments in females’ colleges affiliated with the General Presidency for Girls' Education. It continued under the presidency until the issuance of the noble order in 1427 AH to establish the first university for women in Riyadh under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education. The Geography Department aims to adopt the latest methods and trends to follow the continuous development in the educational process to prepare graduates that meet international quality standards, development requirements, and the job market needs to achieve a set of strategic objectives.

Nature and Goals of the Program

Environmental Studies is an academic field that examines human interactions with the environment in order to solve complex problems associated with air pollution and attempts to predict hazards before they occur. It also aims to find solutions to minimize the damage and preserve the environment. This field encompasses environmental planning and the development of foundations and policies that contribute to environmental sustainability and development

1 Providing a distinguished program in the field of environmental studies and geographic information systems technology that keeps pace with all the latest developments in the field of geographical studies and their technologies and encourages partnerships
2 Meeting the needs of the labor market for qualified and trained competencies in geographic information systems technology and environmental studies that contribute to achieving sustainable development plans.
3 Establishing a culture of volunteer and awareness work to enhance community service.

1 For the student to know the basic concepts in natural and human environmental geography and the mutual relationship between them and other sciences.
2 The student should explain the role of environmental geography in protecting the environment and methods of planning and development in accordance with sustainability goals and indicators.
3 The student will review the various geographical factors and their spatial and environmental impacts.
4 The student should read maps and aerial photographs related to environmental phenomena and interpret them
5 The student should employ geographical concepts, theories and models in scientific research and field study.
6 The student will use geographic information techniques and its applications to interpret and evaluate environmental events
7 The student designs, analyzes and produces maps.
8 The student should evaluate environmental problems and their solutions in a way that serves the goals of sustainable development.

10 The student should contribute to raising awareness to preserve the environment and consider this a religious, national and humanitarian duty.
