The main goal of the International Trade course is to introduce students to both classical and modern theories of international trade in goods and services, as well as empirical research on trade. A substantial fraction of the course is dedicated to examining the efficiency of trade policies. This course will also examine general concepts of international financial flows, determination of interest and exchange rates in interconnected economies and will present the International Economic Organization specialized in trade and finance, such as World Trade Organization (WTO), and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

This course introduces the principles and theory of macroeconomics and the behavioural science of economics, which focuses on the aggregate behaviour of households, firms and the government. The course aims to provide students with basic tools to understand the recent experience of the Arab World and to appreciate how the current policy initiatives affect macroeconomic performance. Topics will include gross domestic product, national income, economic growth, unemployment, inflation, the business cycle, fiscal and monetary policies, and international trade. Upon completion, students should be able to evaluate national economic components, conditions, and alternatives for achieving socioeconomic goals.
