Public Rhetoric (Lite 103) is the art of making meanings with other people. It explores principles and practices of public speaking to make meanings with an audience. This is a skills-based course meant to cultivate students' skills in public speaking through theory and practice. The course will focus on teaching the students how to prepare for and deliver a variety of presentations, including informative, persuasive, and special occasion speeches. The course follows a step-by-step guide to facilitate the acquisition of skills required to deliver successful speeches which includes audience analysis, ethics, topic selection, finding and using supporting evidence, speaking style and form, and delivery.
