Mezna Saleh Altowyan received her B.Sc. in Chemistry and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), Saudi Arabia. She began her professional career as a school chemistry teacher before joining the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. Following the completion of her doctoral studies, she progressed through the academic ranks, attaining the positions of Associate Professor and, subsequently, Professor. Her research focuses on medicinal and organic chemistry, particularly the design and synthesis of novel bioactive molecules and heterocyclic compounds with applications in drug discovery, including anticancer, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial agents. Her work also encompasses green chemistry and chemical sustainability through the development of eco-friendly synthetic methodologies and catalytic systems. In addition, her research integrates asymmetric synthesis, single-crystal X-ray crystallography for structural elucidation, and computational chemistry, including DFT calculations and molecular modeling, to investigate molecular interactions and support the design of new therapeutic candidates.
