This course introduces the principles and theory of macroeconomics and the behavioural science of economics, which focuses on the aggregate behaviour of households, firms and the government. The course aims to provide students with basic tools to understand the recent experience of the Arab World and to appreciate how the current policy initiatives affect macroeconomic performance. Topics will include gross domestic product, national income, economic growth, unemployment, inflation, the business cycle, fiscal and monetary policies, and international trade. Upon completion, students should be able to evaluate national economic components, conditions, and alternatives for achieving socioeconomic goals.

This course provides an in-depth analysis of the principles needed for financial modelling and forecasting techniques, and their application to decision-making in a firm. The emphasis will be on the forecasting and modelling needs faced by business professionals. Topics include financial statements analysis, the articulation of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, ratio analysis, discounted cash flow method and applications, modelling using MS-Excel including built-in "add-ins". To equip the students with the skillsets to be able to use the data to describe realities, build scenarios, use sensitivity analysis and predict performance in the business environment. On successful completion of the course, the students will be equipped to design and build a comprehensive financial model, create dashboards using those financial forecasting, use financial models in business valuation and plan and take decisions by analyzing models.
