This course is designed to introduce students to the genre of short story with its different facets and distinct features. It provides a critical framework for the understanding and analysis of short fiction, and introduces students to key authors and themes of the form. Students will be introduced to a wide range of short stories and will be asked to determine the categories they belong to. Likewise, this selection is designed to introduce students to the theoretical aspect of the short story, to guide them toward an appreciation of it as a literary form.
