Professional Summary

I am a seasoned research leader with over 18 years of experience in designing and implementing development research protocols for agrifood systems, the digital economy, entrepreneurship, and gender initiatives across sub-Saharan Africa. My work has established thought leadership both on the continent and globally, as evidenced by a prolific publication record of over 100 works, more than 18,200 Google Scholar citations, and an H-index of 63. I have received numerous institutional, national, continental, and international awards and honors. I led the development of the MOre Young Entrepreneurs in Silk and Honey (MOYESH) initiative, securing a $55.5 million investment from the Mastercard Foundation to create green employment opportunities for 100,000 youth in Ethiopia. I am committed to advancing evidence-based decision-making and building research capacities that empower the next generation and shape sustainable development policies.

Key Achievements

- Led and supported the development of major development programs: Spearheaded the creation of large-scale initiatives, including the MOre Young Entrepreneurs in Silk and Honey (MOYESH) initiative, a $55.5 million grant funded by the Mastercard Foundation (MCF) to create green jobs for 100,000 youth in Ethiopia. Additionally, I significantly contributed to the development of the Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) program In Ethiopia, an $80 million initiative supported by MCF, both aligning with the Young Africa Works (YAW) strategy.
