The Simulation and Skills Development Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) has received the full accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. It is a non-profit association committed to promoting and supporting the science of medical care simulation, as well as supporting professors and healthcare providers, researchers, administrators, curriculum developers, technologists and Policymakers. With the aim of keeping pace with the rapid developments and changes in simulation-based education in healthcare, in addition to their concern with improving the quality of healthcare practices for the service of societies globally.
In this regard, Dr. Rola Al-Rabah, Executive Director of the Simulation and Clinical Skills Development Center, explained that the institutional accreditation for the simulation center, from the American Society for Simulation in Healthcare, is a turning point and one of the most important goals in the center's strategic plan. As well as due to its results in raising its efficiency and the quality of its products. She added that this would qualify the simulation center to take its position in the ranks of global centers and allow it to host and implement high-quality global training courses.
Al-Rabah confirmed that this accreditation is the highest institutional accreditation granted to simulation centers in the world, as the American Society for Simulation in Healthcare is the regionally and internationally recognized global reference for medical simulation education centers.
It is noteworthy that the Simulation and Clinical Skills Development Center at PNU is one of the largest simulation centers in the world. It is equipped with the latest medical equipment and the most qualified human cadres, to provide courses in continuing professional education, in addition to training and evaluating health practitioners, in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The center annually receives approximately 2000 attendees of male and female students and health practitioners. Furthermore, in the field of events and conferences specialized in simulation, the center is currently preparing to participate in the SimGHOSTS event, scheduled to be held in February 2020.
