A group of students from College of Engineering at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University have occupied the third class at the Kingdom's level for the fourth category relative to Advanced Robotics Challenge, namely: Nourah Al-Ghurair, Renad Al-Rashoud and Ruba Al-Sharekh, in the national qualification for the World Robot Olympiad WRO2019 recently held in the green lounges in Riyadh, KSA for the first time and organized by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with many national bodies.
Qualifying competitions included four main categories, the first of which was the regular category, which was about competing to develop programming skills of students. While the second category was relative to football giving an opportunity to students to compete over Infrared sensor robots that are able to detect presence of the ball in front of them. The third category “the open one" included setting a common title for all participating teams. While the fourth category was intended for advanced robots to test engineering and programming skills of senior and most experienced students through challenging “Tetras tack" in smart cities field, where 119 teams competed for qualification amongst more than 422 teams registered in the Olympiad qualifying competitions.
The College also participated with a second team comprising of the following students: Atheer Al-Zahrani, Reem Asiri and Yara Al-Ghamdi. Both teams have been assisted by Jumana Al Shahri,Lama Alhamad, Alhanouf Alhazani, Bushra Alalmaai, Ghaidaa Al Eisa, Saja Alsultan, Lujeen Al Jarid, Naglaa Alkuwaiter, Al Anoud Alheraashi. In addition to students of College of Computer and Information Sciences, including Ghaidaa Albuhairi (IT Dept.), Layan Al-Qahtani, Lama Eisa, Lama Al-Qabbani, Sarah Al-Junaidi (Computer Science Dept.).
