On Wednesday, 17th Safar 1441 AH, corresponding to October 16th, 2019, at Fairmont Hotel, the "Economic Portal", and under patronage of His Excellency Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is honored to host the award ceremony of the presidents and rectors of universities and higher education institutions of the GCC States under the title (belonging and development), to honor the winners of the universities as well as higher education institutions in the GCC States.
This award from the Committee of presidents and rectors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC States, chaired by Prof. Einas bint Suleiman Al-Eisa, Rector of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and Secretary-General of the award with membership of a number of vice-rectors of some of higher education institutions in the GCC States.
In this regard, the Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and Deputy Secretary of the Award, Dr. Ahmed bin Haider Al-Ghadeer, stated that this award stems from the lofty objectives of the GCC States, in particular Article IV of its statute on devoting attention to scientific progress in all fields. As well as encouraging research and studies, and recognizing importance of the roles assigned to the universities and higher education institutions in GCC States. He added, “The award comes as the first award granted by presidents and rectors of the universities and higher education institutions in GCC States to faculty members in three branches, namely education, scientific research and community service.
Dr. Al-Ghadeer indicated that the mechanism of refereeing of each participation that was carried out by three referees of specialized highly qualified and competent cadres from universities and institutions of higher education in the GCC States and outside. The works, projects nominated for evaluation are selected in accordance with local, regional and international standards, so that the results are submitted to the Scientific Committee for review and deliberation, then approved by the Secretariat of the Award, stressing on the importance of the role of Secretariat of the Award in coordination with the General Secretariat of GCC States.
On her part, the Assistant Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Award, Dr. Amani Mohammed Al-Hossan, explained that the ceremony comes on sidelines of the 23rd preparatory meeting of Presidents and Rectors of the Universities and Higher Education Institutions. With regard to development of award's regulation, the Secretariat of the Award recommended the presentation of the subject of allowing universities and higher education institutions to host the second session of the award, provided that the Secretariat of the Award in its second session formed by the host university to review and update the regulations of the award and develop its mechanisms, conditions and fields.
