The College of Languages, represented by the Department of Translation at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, is organizing the Saudi Francophone Forum under the theme “Promoting Intercultural Dialogue” on Monday, December 1, 2025, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, at the University’s Conference and Seminar Center. The forum highlights the cultural diversity represented by the Francophonie and the importance of strengthening intercultural dialogue through a series of activities with the participation of distinguished Saudi and Francophone academics and experts from various sectors, along with 14 local and international organizations. The event targets all French-language speakers, enthusiasts, and university affiliates. The forum aims to showcase the role of the French language in the Kingdom as a bridge for global communication and a supporter of education, culture, and business in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. It also seeks to promote linguistic diversity in Saudi universities as a reflection of the development of the higher education system, and to highlight national talents who are proficient in French, as well as the professional opportunities available across different fields. The event includes panel discussions, workshops, visual presentations, and inspiring stories of Saudi French-speakers who have excelled in various fields. It also features reading corners, publishing houses, a visual arts exhibition, a tasting station, and an AI-powered visual showcase of traditional costumes from 25 French-speaking countries. The panel discussions address a variety of topics, such as the French language in the Saudi business sector, contributions of Saudi Francophones, linguistic diversity, translation as a cultural bridge and a gateway to professional integration in a multicultural environment, and the role of translation in fostering closeness between different cultures. The Saudi Francophone Forum comes as part of the efforts of the College of Languages, represented by the Department of Translation, to contribute to achieving Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic goals by preparing qualified national competencies, developing an academic environment that promotes cultural and linguistic diversity, and enhancing the Kingdom’s presence on the global cultural map.
