The Deanship of Development and Quality at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University has launched a comprehensive reference titled “Generative Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy” for all university employees and affiliates. The policy aims to support the use of generative AI tools in a way that enhances the educational process and operational efficiency. The new policy serves as a reference covering all areas related to the use of generative artificial intelligence across the university community. It provides guidelines on the application of generative AI in teaching and learning, research, and administrative tasks, in addition to promoting the responsible and ethical use of AI tools, ensuring the preservation of academic integrity and intellectual honesty, and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, while addressing challenges associated with generative AI usage. The policy presents clear guidelines tailored to each university group. For students, the policy focuses on facilitating learning processes, supporting independent knowledge-building, and creating personalized learning plans and recommendations to enhance academic success. For faculty members, the policy outlines three main pillars: Teaching and Learning Support, Assessment, and Encouraging Students’ Self-Learning, through designing instructional activities, creating assessment tools, and guiding students to improve their writing and research skills. Regarding researchers, the policy emphasizes two key areas: Research Proposals and Literature Review, and Data Collection and Generation, enabling them to organize and summarize knowledge, translate content into multiple languages, and broaden the scope of research questions. For administrative staff, the policy focuses on two core aspects: Communication and Content Creation, and Administrative Tasks and Procedures, supporting them in drafting correspondence, preparing reports, and managing tasks. The launch of the “Generative AI Usage Policy” reflects the Deanship of Development and Quality’s commitment to promoting the responsible use of modern technologies, activating an effective AI governance framework, and safeguarding core academic values. It aligns with the university’s 2025 strategic plan, which seeks to advance excellence in teaching and learning and strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem.
