13 Aug 2025

Students from the College of Engineering at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University participated from 13 July to 13 August 2025 in the Summer Program on Renewable Energy and Sustainability hosted by the University of Tokyo, with support from the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy. The program included twenty-one students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and aimed to strengthen participants’ academic and scientific expertise in renewable energy, promote cultural and educational exchange, develop innovation and entrepreneurship skills, and broaden students’ global perspectives through direct field experiences and interaction within an international academic and research environment. The training program featured a series of theoretical and practical activities, including intensive scientific lectures, training courses, field and cultural visits, workshops, laboratory experiments, and knowledge exchange sessions with specialists in the energy sector, which collectively enhanced participants’ understanding of renewable energy technologies, engineering design skills for energy systems, environmental life-cycle analysis, and cross-cultural communication. The program covered scientific themes such as renewable energy technologies, innovation and entrepreneurship in energy, nuclear energy systems, Japan’s energy mix, and visits to power stations, alongside cultural and academic exchange activities with Japanese institutions. Participation in this program aligns with the College of Engineering’s contributions to achieving PNU’s 2025 Strategic Plan by providing students with high-impact international learning experiences, strengthening learning outcomes in engineering fields, expanding global academic partnerships, and enhancing students’ international engagement in co-curricular initiatives.
