Nutrition Unit at the Deanship of Student Affairs Provides Services to More Than 7,000 Beneficiaries

In a qualitative step reflecting Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s commitment to enhancing community health, advancing digital health transformation, and improving quality of university life, the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Nutrition Unit, delivered a series of specialized projects and awareness-based preventive services, benefiting more than (7,800) female students and staff members by the end of the previous academic year. Among the key initiatives implemented by the Unit was the “Mu‘een” initiative, aimed at promoting the adoption of a sustainable healthy lifestyle among more than (3,117) students and staff members through several sub-projects, including “Itqan,” “Intilaqah,” and “Da‘em,” which focused on developing healthy dietary habits and preventive health behaviors. The Unit also prepared (557) personalized nutrition plans, contributing to increased health awareness and the provision of tailored nutritional interventions that support students’ health within the University campus. As part of activating digital healthcare services on campus, the Unit conducted (9) virtual consultation sessions and provided its services through a digital health clinic, benefiting approximately (379) individuals. This step reflects the effective use of technology to enhance access to health awareness and consultation services. In the area of awareness and education, the Unit delivered (19) lectures and (8) awareness programs for nearly (1,900) students and staff members, in cooperation with external entities. In terms of community engagement, approximately (347) student volunteers contributed to implementing health programs, totaling (2,264) volunteer hours recorded through the National Platform for Voluntary Work. Additionally, (23) volunteer opportunities were offered, with participation from members of the academic and administrative staff. On the scientific front, the Unit published a peer-reviewed scientific study in the international journal Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition, examining the impact of awareness programs on students’ health behaviors, reflecting the Unit’s active presence in scientific research. These efforts come as part of the Deanship of Student Affairs’ work, represented by the Nutrition Unit, to contribute to achieving the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 Strategic Plan by promoting a healthy lifestyle on campus, supporting an integrated and sustainable health system, and building a healthier and more informed community in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
