Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University has received the Excellence Award in Energy Efficiency Improvement for the years 2023 and 2024, achieving a perfect score of 100% on the performance scorecard, as granted by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center. The award was presented during a ceremony honoring distinguished government entities for their achievements in improving energy efficiency, organized by the Center and attended by representatives of various entities. The University was recognized for its efforts in adopting innovative and sustainable practices to protect the environment and enhance energy consumption efficiency across the university campus. These efforts were implemented through a comprehensive set of initiatives, policies, and projects, including the installation of high-efficiency LED lighting systems, the use of smart meters to monitor actual energy consumption, the upgrading and efficiency enhancement of cooling systems, partial expansion in the use of renewable energy, and the implementation of proactive maintenance systems. These efforts also engaged university faculty, staff, and operations and maintenance personnel through the implementation of awareness programs aimed at increasing knowledge of the importance of energy conservation and promoting sustainable behaviors. Achieving a 100% performance score for both 2023 and 2024 represents a continuation of the University’s sustained excellence in this field. The University had previously received the same award in 2022, reflecting its ongoing commitment to applying best practices in energy efficiency and its continuous pursuit of sustainability and institutional excellence. This achievement aligns with the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which seeks to enhance environmental sustainability, ensure efficient and sustainable operation of the university city, and foster a campus environment that supports health and well-being.
