About the Department
Family Medicine is one of the core specialties in providing comprehensive and continuous healthcare for family and community. Family physicians assess patients holistically—physically, psychologically, and socially—and provide appropriate treatment plans, monitoring both their and their family's health in the short and long term. The field of Family Medicine has received widespread attention in national healthcare transformation projects as part of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to provide high-quality healthcare for individuals and their families. The Department prepares medical students and postgraduate doctors to understand and practice Family Medicine according to the highest standards of evidence-based clinical practice. It comprises two units: Family Medicine and Community Medicine, which are responsible for teaching, clinical training, research project implementation, and community service.
