Vice Deanship of Academic Affairs

The Vice Deanship of Academic Affairs is a fundamental component of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, overseeing the educational process and ensuring program quality across various departments. Its primary goal is to prepare competent graduates capable of academic and professional success in the field of computer and information sciences. This is achieved through programs that adhere to international standards as well as pioneering partnerships. Moreover, the Vice Deanship of Academic Affairs ensures a conducive learning environment, providing classrooms and specialized laboratories and managing them to deliver theoretical lectures and practical training according to the highest academic standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

-Preparing the Vice Deanship's annual plan and monitoring its implementation upon approval.

-Implementing the regulations of study and examinations at universities and ensuring adherence by the relevant units.

-Monitoring activities of the Teaching and Learning Quality Department, as well as implementing the quality management system at the college, and ensuring compliance with academic accreditation standards in various academic programs.

-Supervising academic programs and monitoring the development of programs and curricula.

- Supervising the academic process at the college and creating an environment conducive to educational excellence.

-Supervising field training and standardizing relevant guides and procedures at the college, considering the variability of specializations and programs, as well as fostering cooperation with technical entities and companies to provide top-level cooperative training for college students in various academic programs.

-Monitoring activities of the Educational Affairs Department through various committees and units. Such activities include exam procedures, academic advising, new students' program, poor academic performance, equivalency committees, etc.

-Monitoring activities of the Registration Unit, including inputting schedules into the academic system among other functions.

-Managing faculty affairs regarding faculty workload, workload, excess workload calculations, department councils, etc.

-Monitoring the performance of the Laboratories and Learning Resources Department, ensuring lab readiness as well as the availability of software and various learning resources for students and faculty members.

-Supervising the preparation of schedules and room reservations.

-Supervising educational affairs and faculty-related subjects and presenting them to the college council.

-Supervising the affairs of non-faculty cooperative members as well as professional practitioners, including their responsibilities, along with monitoring the Academic Titles Committee's performance.

-Monitoring various student cases such as leaves of absence, deferrals, dismissals, etc.

-Supervising the organization of the annual competition and exhibition for graduation projects to foster innovation and excellence among students, alongside arranging a mini-career day to enhance collaboration with the job market and support graduates' employment.

-Monitoring the E-Learning Unit's performance and ensuring full implementation of the "Blackboard" system across all courses.

 

Departments and Units:​

Educational Affairs Department:

Responsibilities:

- Monitoring the processes of registration, scheduling, and faulty workload.

-Following up on the progress of examinations.

-Following up on the progress of the educational process.

-Monitoring faculty affairs regarding excess workload, reducing workload, and other related matters.

-Preparing an academic advising plan in collaboration with the academic departments and monitoring its implementation.

-Supervising the new student's program, as well as the “Your voice is heard" program, in coordination with the academic departments.

-Activating the educational process committees' activities, including academic advising committees, poor academic performance, and equivalencies.

 

Department of Teaching and Learning Quality:

Responsibilities:

-Implementing the best and latest academic practices and ensuring their activation in all academic programs.

-Promoting a culture of quality and academic accreditation, and supporting faculty members in enhancing their teaching skills and methodologies through collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

-Monitoring and developing plans to obtain academic accreditation for all programs at the college.

-Evaluating learning outcomes and identifying areas for improvement to ensure continuous development of educational quality.  

-Monitoring the completion of quality surveys and measuring performance indicators.

 

Department of Laboratories and Learning Resources:

Responsibilities:

-Supervising college laboratories and conducting continuous inventory, along with evaluating equipment condition and ensuing regular maintenance in collaboration with the university's laboratory unit.

-Monitoring practical lectures and tests conducted in laboratories, as well as ensuring the implementation of security and safety procedures in the laboratories.

-Supervising lab preparation, identifying equipment and software needs, and submitting projects for lab development at the college.

-Supervising the college library, providing and updating references as per the college's needs in coordination with the central library.


E-Learning Unit:

Responsibilities:

- Monitoring the inventory of e-programs and courses within the college.

- Providing contact information of e-courses faculty members and coordinators.

- Supervising the activation of using the “Blackboard" system, and supporting course coordinators in addressing technical issues.

- Promoting e-learning awareness among faculty members and students.

- Handling initial inquiries from faculty members and students, referring them to the technical support provided by the department through available channels.

- Regular communication with the E-Learning Department representative and reporting any difficulties faced.

- Submitting periodic reports on course development and implementation to the E-learning Department.

- Organizing introductory meetings and orientation sessions for college students.
