Overview

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University combines the legacy of two colleges: the College of Arts, which was established in 1399/1400 AH, and the College of Social Service, which was established in 1394 AH, beginning with the name of the Higher Institute of Social Service for Girls, then its name was changed to the College of Social Service. In the year 1411/1412 AH. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was established by decision of the University Affairs Council No. (2/16/45) dated 2/14/1445 AH, merging the College of Social Service with the College of Arts and changing the name of the college to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, as it now includes, according to the new structure, eight departments. Academy, are: The Department of Islamic Studies, the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and the Department of History and Archeology, which includes three academic programs: the History Program, the Tourist Guidance Program, the Antiquities and Museums Program, and the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability, which includes two tracks: Environmental Geography, and Geographic Information Systems and Sensing. Remotely, the Department of Libraries and Information, the Department of Social Service, the Department of Journalism and Media, and the Department of Women’s Studies. The college's vision seeks to contribute to achieving the university's vision of being a beacon for women of knowledge and values in the field of humanities and social sciences. It also bases its mission on the university’s mission, ensuring that it graduates pioneering competencies and conducts complementary research in the fields of humanities and social sciences, to promote Islamic values and national identity, and to contribute to building the knowledge economy and societal development. Through contemporary programmes, an innovative environment and influential partnerships. The college adopted promising goals, through which it seeks to align with the university’s goals and strategic directions, which are as follows: - Possible graduates who are scientifically and skillfully competitive. - Authentic and contemporary programs that keep pace with development requirements. - Influential leadership and leading academic competencies. - Distinctive research belonging to the country and supporting the fields of humanities and social sciences. - Community impact and effective partnerships. - An integrated and advanced administrative, technical and financial system

Dean’s Message

We, at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, aim to promote noble values, Islamic identity, cultural heritage, and Arab achievements. At the same time, we aspire to open new horizons by providing renewed scientific approaches and research that keeps pace with the changes of the era. In doing so, we will have a clear impact on achieving the vision of the Kingdom of 2030 and fulfilling its strategic objectives, as we believe in the promising vision of the College, which is to be a beacon of knowledge and values in the field of humanities and social sciences - a vision that is destined to be realized and inscribed as a distinguished reality, adorned with aspirations and embellished with the stories of the present and the future.​

Fulfilling its mission, which carries the torch of inspiration and the beacon of creativity, the College seeks to graduate pioneering competencies and conduct enriching research to strengthen Islamic values, national identity, and contribute to building a knowledge-based economy and community development through contemporary programs, an innovative environment, and effective partnerships. The aim is to be at the forefront of educational institutions that produce knowledge and are in line with the needs and aspirations of society.

 The College has adopted the path of investing in human capital and playing a vital role in supporting the renaissance of society, seeking to achieve the characteristics of the graduate and learning outcomes through an integrated system that is keen to update the curriculum, provide enrichment activities, support student skills, diversify teaching methods and evaluation methods, according to the highest standards of academic performance quality, in order to establish a strong relationship between its educational outcomes and employment opportunities.

All of this is a conscious investment in the coming generation, building trust between them and the employers, and preparing them for a promising future, as they are undoubtedly the foundation of economic development and the beacon of national leadership.
