The course contains 3 parts:

Part 1: Teaching undergraduate students to plan and design a grid-connected or islanded microgrid system using HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model of Electric Renewable ). Introduction to the basics and interface of Homer-pro software. Applying various simulations to these programs, in addition to this, design a model of a small community system, simulation, optimization and sensitivity analysis by Homer-pro. In the end of the course, many projects, reports, and presentations will be presented by the students.

Part 2: In this course students will be able to understand the main different physical applications of COMSOL Multiphysics, since it is a very complete software that offers a multitude of physical modules for simulation, such as structural, mechanical, and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Also, to acquire the ability to the students to work with the main COMSOL modules and conduct simulations of all kinds of Multiphysics applications.


Part 3: Learning computer simulation of phase transformation and microstructure evolution in metallic systems using MatCalc software package (might add ThermoCalc software to confirm the transformation temperatures, solubility limits given in phase diagrams forms).
